Unsurprisingly, not even an enormous volcanic eruption causing a 6.2 magnitude earthquake and leaving an entire country isolated from the rest of the world could encourage politicians to give a shit about climate change. The horrifying images of streets flowing with tsunami waves and the news of COVID spreading like wildfire in the damaged nation allowed the news-cycle to continue for a few more days, but evidently not enough to force politicians to start talking about climate action.
