Despite a faulty tyre causing Mary to lose control of her car and hit a tree, she has been discharged from the ER with the doctor insisting that “it’s just period pain”. Although Mary had bruising across her chest, legs, and abdomen, the doctor refused Mary’s request for X-rays after he overheard her asking a nurse for a spare tampon. “Take a Panadol and buy a hot water bottle” was the advice Mary received as she limped toward her Uber- which took her directly to the nearest medical centre for a second opinion (and maybe even a third).
